"So, you're the one lettin' loose monsters. And roughing up my men. That's not gonna fly. Lay down your arms, and prepare to die! For I am, Vega Van Dam!"
―Vega Van Dam introducing himself

Vega Van Dam is a supporting antagonist in LISA: THE JOYFUL. He is one of the nine Warlords of Olathe, ranked #6 on the List.

Description[]

Vega appears to be a bare-chested man with wavy pink-coloured hair, string tied around his biceps and wrists, and red tights. He seems to share the same demeanour as Hawk Hollywood, especially with his signature "glimmer" effect.

Vega can be found at the far right-end of Vega Land, inside of a building with his likeness spray-painted onto the door. Upon introducing himself, he relentlessly performs an excessive amount of "glimmer" effects, up to the point that even one of his own henchmen, Timmy Apple Cat, tells him to "seriously stop with that shit". If Buddy is unmasked upon entering the building, Vega's dialogue will change, where he will appear surprised that Buddy is present, believing her to be a "gift" for him.

After Buddy confirms Vega's identity, a fight against him and his henchmen will commence.

Locations[]

Mask Interactions[]

Depending on what mask (or lack thereof) Buddy is wearing when approaching Vega, he will have different dialogue.

No Mask

Vega Van Dam: So, you’re the one lettin’ loose monsters.

VVD: And roughing up my men.

Notes[]

  • Vega is aided in battle by Fatty Peach Dog and the aforementioned Timmy Apple Cat, both of whom are men of towering stature, almost twice the height of Vega himself.
  • Vega has his own variation of the "Woo!" attack; an attack which inflicts him with Super Cool, which regenerates his HP and SP each turn. This can be countered by inflicting him with Burning and/or Bleed.
  • Gameplay-wise, Vega is almost identical to Hawk Hollywood, apart from his ability to occasionally use Hair Slick.

Trivia[]

  • Surprisingly, Vega has a unique dialogue when Buddy is wearing the Joy Mask. Most players would not be able to see this, as the mask cannot be obtained until the Area 2 Crossroads have been reached; "One of Buzzo's little men? You working with that sick fuck? Rando-Bobando... You have sunk low. That's a path you shouldn't go.".
    • Vega's nickname for Rando ("Rando-Bobando") is likely a reference to the nickname of deuteragonist Randy, one of the henchmen of the main antagonist, Jim Lahey, from the live-action mockumentary television-series Trailer Park Boys.
  • Vega's "Woo!" attack sound-effect is shared with Brad's Scream, sped up and increased in pitch by 50%.
  • The aforementioned "Woo!" is also likely a reference to Ric Flair (known for his trademark "Woo!"), an American professional-wrestling manager (and former professional-wrestler himself) .
    • Vega also has a similar name to Rob Van Dam, an American professional-wrestler and actor.
  • The music heard during the fight against Vega and his henchmen is "666 Kill Chop Deluxe".
